Back on Friday 17 August 2012 the best of Darwin were battling it out in Super Sedan to Qualify for Saturday racing. Des Groves lined up in the Olive Green Falcon Ute against Dean Radcliffe in the Rail Dragster.

All was going well at the start with both neck to neck then disaster hit half way down the track when the Falcon Ute went out in a puff of smoke. The car went sideways as it lost traction sliding across the track narrowly missing the Dragster then smashing head on into the wall with a spectacular spark show as the car grinded the front end along the wall. The Falcon was out for the remainder of the season sadly as the project had only just been finished to end in such a sad way.

Go to 1min 30 sec to see the accident.
